ANTIQUE NESTING APOTHECARY SCALE WEIGHT SET. It is not dated, but was given as a gift to John Baker, the father-in-law of Mark Baldwin, as a gift from his Sunday school teacher in the 1950s. But it is no doubt much older than that. It is not comparable to the artistic quality of similar weight sets from Europe, but the weights nest cleanly and do not rattle in place. It does not seem to be a fraud piece.
The only markings are on the cover and the top of the smallest weight and are'2' and'L'. Weights are not marked, but weigh from smallest to largest in grams: 12g, 13g, 27g, 52g and 115g. The container weighs 248g and the complete unit is 467g. The item "ANTIQUE NESTING APOTHECARY SCALE WEIGHT SET 5 WEIGHTS, SOLID BRASS" is in sale since Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
